First Blog!

I've thought about starting a blog for a while now, and Sharisa's new blog gave me the little bit of extra inspiration I needed to get started! So I guess I should give an update about Kyle and myself:

Kyle and I have been in limbo for the past several months, not knowing where we would be working or living come January 1, 2009. But, we have finally come to a decision. We will be sticking things out in College Station for a few months longer. While neither of us are too excited about staying here, we feel that is probably the best thing for us right now. We have to move out of our house by Dec. 31st, but this past Monday we found a great new duplex to move into. It located on the other side of town, in College Station, in a decent neighborhood and about a block away from a dog park. I think it will be great for us (and Turbo)! Best of all, we will be taking over someone else's lease that will end in June, so we won't be stuck in a long-term lease...and, the rent is cheaper : )

Kyle has been job hunting for the past several months and hasn't had very much luck so far. It's just not a very good time to be looking for a new job! He does have a few job prospects at the university for next semester, and, if one works out, hopefully the extra experience will build his resume and make finding an environmental job a little easier! If he can cut down his hours at NAPA he might also have a chance to volunteer on some different projects, which might also help him gain a little more experience. One of his old professors also recommended that he apply for an internship with the NRCS, so he's also in the process of doing that. Keep your fingers crossed that something will work out!

I finally defended my master's thesis on November 25, and I was so happy with how it went! I am making some small revisions to my thesis and then I will be done. HOORAY! Grad school has been one of the most difficult things I have had to endure to date, and I am so happy this chapter of my life will soon be closed. Once I submit my thesis, I will then have a little more work to do to try and get it published.

So, what's next you might ask? I have made the decision to take the MCAT in May and will spend the next few months working part-time, studying my butt off for the big test, and volunteering. Then, I will start applying to med schools. I am so excited about this new journey I am about to embark on and I am going to attack it with my full heart and pray that all the hard work will pay off!
I suppose that's enough for now...Back to finishing up the thesis! I'll leave you with a few pictures of Turbo =)
